The phenomenon of 'Ozempic face' has circulated anecdotally, but this survey provides the largest structured patient-reported dataset to quantify the breadth of these concerns simultaneously.
The implications are practically significant: aesthetic side effects are a documented driver of medication discontinuation, which directly undermines the long-term metabolic gains that make GLP-1RAs valuable. Preserving lean mass through resistance training and adequate protein intake (≥1.2g/kg/day) is an evidence-backed mitigation strategy the abstract gestures toward.
Limitations are substantial — voluntary survey bias, a predominantly White female cohort, and absence of rate-of-weight-loss data weaken causal conclusions.
